Education for Sustainable Development (ESD)

As the world changes what about education for sustainability?Priorities_resize

Climate change, the end of cheap energy - especially oil- and a global recession are creating real uncertainties about the future for everyone. Is what we are offering though our education for sustainability going to provide the 'big picture', the debate around the challenges to remaking the economy both low carbon and sustainable?

The Sense &Sustainability Team think not - so if you’ve also been having doubts, then you are not alone!

Sense&Sustainability have some exciting new ideas about the next steps in education for sustainability. It’s an ESD that helps us all to see the bigger picture and engage with the exciting possibilities around a ‘bright green’ world.

Much of our education for sustainable development is well meaning and heartfelt but it is  “education for a slightly less harmful world” whereas what we need is an ESD that helps people to understand and contribute to the systemic changes which can bring a virtous development cycle, one which is eco-restorative and builds social capital. A future where business does well by doing good.
